What is Academic Dual Credit?

Academic Dual Credit is a program that offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take general education classes that earn both high school and college credit for a discounted rate (a 3 hour college credit = 1 Carnegie unit). Students who meet the requirements may enroll in classes at MCC, online, or at the student's high school.

What are the requirements?

  • Be classified as a high school junior or senior as documented by an official high school transcript
  • Have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA 
  • Have taken the ACT or Accuplacer prior to enrolling in classes

How do I sign up?

  • Complete the 3 steps below to apply for Âé¶¹Ô­´´'s Academic Dual Credit Program.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee entrance to the program. Students must meet all requirements and complete the entire application process to be enrolled in classes.

Step 1: Submit an Admission Application

Go to meridiancc.edu/apply and submit an MCC Application for Admission.

  • You will need to create a first-time user account, or login as a returning user if you already have an account.

Step 3: Submit Your Dual Credit Form

Other Important Information:

Some classes may have additional Inclusive Access Materials Fees that cover course materials, textbooks, etc. Please refer to the MCC Business Office Tuition and Fees Schedule, or contact Âé¶¹Ô­´´'s Dual Education Coordinator for more information. 

To safeguard a student's financial aid eligibility, it is recommended students maintain a 2.5 GPA during the first two (2) courses and all coursework thereafter.

A grade of "C" or higher is required for a course to be counted for post-secondary credit.

Students who are homeschooled must submit a transcript prepared by a parent, guardian or custodian with a signed, sworn affidavit. They must also have a written recommendation from the parent, guardian or custodian as documented by this form.

Students must be a resident of Lauderdale County to enroll in Academic Dual Credit.

If the student is not a Mississippi resident but attends a high school within Lauderdale County, they can enroll but will be charged out-of-state dual credit tuition.

The following classes have a minimum ACT or Accuplacer Score requirement:

  • English Comp. I: 17 English subscore

  • College Algebra: 19 Math subscore

  • Anatomy & Physiology I: 16 Composite score

  • General Biology I: 20 Composite score
